Hey There!

Oh Internet

So my man Jess thought a picture I had sent him was so cute that he decided to post it on a public site for all the world to see.

Let me back up a bit...

I was going through my closet to try and clear some things. Found the bottom half of my boyfriend's Chewbacca costume from a few Halloweens ago and decided to try it on. Was so silly I just had to photograph that moment for him. He happens to be in London trying out the whole world traveler thing. Anyways...

Friend of a friend sees the picture on the site and shows it to said friend. Who then proceeds to notice that I have about 70,000 views. So weird. And slightly frustrating that this picture is what's being noticed with no connections to this site or my etsy store. Well at least I got my 5 seconds of internet fame.

You stay classy world. I know I will...from now on.

French Apple Awesome

Saturday night was spent making this french apple tart from Ina Garten's recipe. It was actually really easy, even if I didn't have a dough making blade on my food processor. Definitely gonna pull this dessert out again next time I want to impress someone.

I want to say thank you to Jason and Brian for lending me their kitchen to make this. I made this in the kitchen while they played Halo 3. Wonderful Saturday night.

Thanksgiving Aftermath

Ugh...so full....
Friday, friends and I went to grab some coffee near the lake and on the way spotted the neighborhood tree lot set up! I had to run in and smell the holidays. Seriously no one has yet to create a scent that duplicates christmas tree.

Later that day the fates where on my side. My ex-coworker, but still good friend Jenn, called me up to ask if I wanted to help decorate the office where I used to work. I was to keep a tradition going even if I no longer was apart of it. It was awesome to reminisce and see the place again.

Here's Jenn reading madlibs from last year.

Sorry for the awkward soup eating picture Jenn but I needed a shot of the desk decor.

How early do you start your christmas decorating?

Peace!

Happy Turkey Day!

Lots of adventures have been happening. But none so post worthy yet. In honor of over eating and making lots of food day, I am attempting to make an apple pie this week. This is also in avoidance of doing actual work on my store but hey ho. Anyone have a good pie recipe to share?

News!

Took most of the day off today to do a photoshoot for my shop. Lovely Jason was my model with me accompanying him. I want to thank Marissa for being our fabulous photographer. The pictures will be up on etsy. Heres a little sneak peak of what we did.

I thought it was going to rain but it turned out to be a lovely day. Marisa took the close up shots of the items on the roof of my apartment complex!

Did I mention that I make felt flowers as well? You'll see them in the shop!

Thanks for sticking with me through my procrastination.

Button Experimentations Muwahahahahaha!

I am all about using up craft materials from previous projects. I have these iron on letters that were for a sweatshirt back in the day, they are very old school calligraphy, and there were a lot leftover. So I decided that monograms needed to come back into style. There was a time a few years ago when everything had a friggin letter on it.

It's a photobooth shot so sorry for the backwards letters but you get the idea. Still working it all out though. If I put mylar on them they turn out much neater, no edges undone or fabric sticking out. But its cooler looking with the exposed fabric and lettering (which has tiny little plastic dots on them btw). But the fabric sometimes doesn't catch underneath the crimp so there's more editing process after the button is made.

What I go through to make you look cool, I tell you....

More to come!

New Project

I work at a lovely school in Oakland. And as you know teachers are notorious for hoarding things. You never know when you might use something for a project one day!

Well a few months ago during an inservice day we discovered inside the depths of the supply closet a button making machine. And lo and behold they didn't need it!
So now I am the proud owner of a Dr. Don's Button Machine.

I'm experimenting with an item that may appear on my etsy shop. We'll see!

Halloween Creation

(lighting by me as well haha)

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you. I made a costume for my friend this Halloween!

So pre-halloween party planning we were all sitting together planning costumes. At one point the idea of a Star Trek group costume came up but most of us were meh about that idea. But what did come out of it, what did stick, was that our friend Renaldo should dress up as Guinan from Star Trek the Next Generation. Ah shit yeah he totally should. Oh but he doesn't want to hassle with making a costu- Fuck I'll make the damn costume!....really?...Yeah, sure, why not.
Thank you ReyRey for participating. It made our party a little more awesome with you there.

This is it

Ok... so I haven't been working too hard on getting my shop open and I really need to start.
One thing that is motivating me at the moment is my soon to happen photo shoot with Marissa Carter (link for her to come)!

One of my main problems is that when I get home from work I snuggle under my blanket and want to just veg out on the computer. Luckily my friend Jason is recording vocals for his bands new album today, giving me the perfect opportunity to be stuck in Sacramento with nothing to do but work on my crafties.
There's a park across the street from the studio with this on a water box. Wonderful.

Seriously Im going to be here all day. I will update this entry as I create new items.

Update: It is freezing in this place. As such, I am wearing the wookie costume that I left in his car from Halloween. Now Im toasty and my hands don't hurt when I stitch.

I've made some flowers, some experimenting with jersey fabric and mod podge happening.

Happy Sunday Everyone!
